BENTONITE

Bentonite is a type of clay that is composed mainly of the mineral montmorillonite. It is formed from volcanic ash and has a unique ability to absorb and retain water. Because of this property, it is used in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.

Bentonite has a very low permeability and is used as a sealant for dams, landfills, and other construction projects. It is also used as a drilling mud to lubricate and cool the drilling bit in oil and gas exploration and to stabilize the walls of the borehole.

Bentonite is used as a feed supplement for livestock and in agriculture, as a fertilizer amendment to improve soil structure and water-holding capacity.

Bentonite is also used in the production of certain types of cat litter and in the purification of wine, beer and other liquids.

In the beauty industry, bentonite is used in face masks, body wraps, and other skincare products for its ability to absorb impurities and oils from the skin.
